Description

Duties: Coordinate with Executive Director and Project Coordinator in scheduling and design of volunteer river cleanups. Communicate with project partners regarding details of event: location, logistics, duties, schedules, etc. Work alone or with assistants to prepare for and wrap up events including: loading supplies into vehicle and setting up staging area, distributing equipment at cleanups, collecting equipment at cleanups, returning equipment to appropriate place in storage area, inventorying supplies and coordinating with Executive Director on other functions as needed. Provide coordination of volunteers participating in event, including getting completed sign-in sheets, providing background on Allegheny Cleanways, and informing volunteers of cleanup protocol, health hazards, safety precautions, and proper disposal methods. Tireless Project Coordinator will also be responsible for registering events on designated websites and logging results of events, i.e. debris collected, volunteers participating, etc. Some evening and significant weekend work expected.

Qualifications/Skills: Excellent organizational and leadership skills including the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments as well as prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently. Must be able to work independently. Must have the ability to direct/assist safe lifting of heavy items, operate an automatic transmission pickup truck, and maintain hand (non-power) tools, as well as to supervise and mentor assistants, and volunteers. Must have proficient computer and public speaking skills, valid driver’s license, and access to a car.

Preferred Skills: Prior clean-up and/or environmental stewardship project management, volunteer management experience, CPR and First Aid training, environmental science background.
